The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) affects most health plans and service providers. Along with the nondiscrimination rules, HIPAA requires plans and administrators to know and comply with preexisting condition exclusion rules, credits for prior health care coverage, issuance of certificates of creditable coverage, and integration with COBRA, Qualified Medical Child Support Orders (QMCSOs), The Mental Health Parity Act, and other applicable laws. HR professionals, including in-house HR personnel, consultants, advisors, and service providers will need to learn the various requirements in order to ensure compliance. The HIPAA Portability Training & Certification Program covers both the basics and the detailed rules for the use and disclosure of information. The Program includes the notice requirement rules and administrative tips to help with compliance. Numerous examples help provide valuable insight into the nuances of the rules. This self-paced Program is available from any browser. It should take approximately eight hours to complete the training portion of the Program and two hours to take the Certification test. Certificates of Achievement are automatically mailed and any Test questions answered incorrectly are viewable online.
